A Snapshot Of Our History
The Souls Harbor
Television Ministry was established on January 7th, 1970. It however was
birthed over a cup of coffee in the latter months of 1969. Pastor Libby
and Jim McKinnon, who worked at WVII Channel 7 in Bangor, Maine at the
time, had met for a cup of coffee and in their conversations they began to
talk about the possibility of a weekly television ministry. Souls Harbor
began its journey on January 7, 1970 and was produced at the Charleston
Pentecostal Church in Charleston, Maine. Those were the days before color
television and so Souls Harbor was first aired in black and white
TV. A few months later production began at the WVII television
studio and was aired Thursday evenings at 7 pm. This production was aired live. It was also at this time that Souls Harbor began to expand its
programming to several times a week, eventually making Sunday mornings
at 8 am its main weekly service. A time that they have consistently held year after year until the
present. It was around 1980 that the ministry broadened it's broadcast
coverage to include northern Maine and all the provinces of Canada. Souls Harbor
can still be seen each and every Sunday morning in these same areas.
Presently, since 2007, the Souls Harbor Television Ministry is produced in
its own production studio.
